The Power
They close their minds. None will befriend me.
They fear my power and have condemned me
to live alone within my cavern,
my death assured dare I return.
Now must I work my magic nightly
protected by the knife held tightly
and by the circle drawn around me
from what my incantations free.
“I summon thee, by fire and potion.
Roam the night from ocean to ocean!
By blood and starlight, by root and tree,
be my champion! I command thee!
“Crush my enemies, as I demand,
fight my battles throughout this land!
Hate and fear, the curse repeated.
Prejudice must be defeated!”
For “witch” they call me through their hatred,
bound to this life I now am fated.
Yet still I cannot find to hate them.
Do not curse nor try to bait them.
Instead I use my magic power
to cast a spell at midnight hour,
attempting to defeat the demon
that steals away both mind and reason.
For Gaea, She the Great Earth Mother,
demands we love our sister/brother.
It cannot stay. Power will depart
if love is not within the heart.
